My attempt at designing modern quilts … and the one above works for me.
Don’t now if the second design above fits the modern criteria or not, but I love it!

Pretty to look at, and pretty fiddly to make.
Just a thought … if we all made quilts as fiddly as these, we would save a lot of money spent on fabric!
I love both of these … maybe the second one is my favourite.

Interesting, and it would have matched my Mum’s house, and garden.
I like the second design! A lot!

Some interesting quilting motifs amongst some pretty applique designs.
I should have added more quilting motifs to the second design.

I enjoy playing with traditional designs to create something different. I also prefer applique to piecing, so turning a design where the rings were usually pieced together to an applique design was a natural for me.
Even better with an area where quilting can be shown off.

It has been a long time since I opened this project file and was pleasantly surprised to see the design above.
The second design is much more mundane than the first!

Love the first design for today.
Love the second one too … might be something to do with the colours …. my Mum’s favourite colour was purple, my Dad’s was green. My favourite colours are their favourite colours.

I have thought that the background colour of some of these designs is wrong, but then I remember that bush fires leave behind a blackened landscape, which is home to a lot of seeds of plants which start growing after rain, and are soon producing flowers.
Once the flora starts showing their colours, the fauna also come out to enjoy the new growth, including our native hopping mouse which is unrelated to the average mouse, but is part of the marsupial species which thrive in Australia.

Another project file containing fiddly designs, this time set on point. I love the colours!
Almost the same as the first, up until the final row of blocks.

The colour combination would be restful in a bedroom, but the designs in this project file would work with any colour combination you choose.
The second design looks more like a table cloth to me, not that I would make it for that purpose … I made a Christmas tablecloth and the first time it got used someone tipped a bowl of whipped cream over, and the stain remains! The stain may have disappeared if I had stripped the table right then and washed the cloth, but we were having too much fun with the extended family around to worry about ...

Like the colours in this project file … pink and green, with a touch of purple.
Always going to be pretty.

Yesterday’s designs were fiddly … these are too, but they would be pretty on the bed.
The first design was a fee range garden, the second design a much more formal garden.

Very pretty, but would be very fiddly to make.
Second design is very pretty, and would be less fiddly to make, either because there are less blocks, or the blocks can be bigger for a larger bed..

Interesting but a bit tangled up!
Almost the same design, with some extra applique in the border, and the colours have been stirred a bit!

Very interesting design … impressive, even if I do say so myself.
I like the second one too, but my favourite for today is the first one.

Love the first design for today!
Love the second one too, even if my head had to be in a spin when I designed those blocks!
It is ANZAC day today ….
They shall grow not old,
as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun
and in the morning
We will remember them.
We will remember them
Lest we forget
I think pink, purple and green are my favourite colour combination!
Simple, but I love it … and would love it more in reality after it was quilted!

Very pretty, and in my Mum’s favourite colours. I had to ask Mum what her favourite colour was when I was going to make them a quilt, and I had never noticed a preference in what colours she wore or what colours she used to decorate the house, but pretty much all the colours she used work well with purple.
Still pretty, although a little less space for quilting to be a feature.

Fiddly, but the results would look great on a bed.
The second design is may favourite for today.
